Steve is an extensively experienced people and business manager within the services and industrial sectors. Working at a State Manager level and with a breadth of experience in diverse areas including operations, sales and finance, HR, IR, OH&S and QA Steve understands what makes businesses succeed. Commercially astute, a sample of Steve’s major career achievements to date includes:
- Increasing business turnover and EBIT. Two examples are:
Case 1 - over 3 years by 51% [$31 million]. On a ‘same contract basis’ turnover increased by 42% [$22 million] EBIT over the same period increased by 30%. On a ‘same contract basis’ EBIT increased by 42%.
Case 2 – over 2 years by 52% ($9 million).These increases were achieved through tenders, personal sales efforts and farming the customer base for additional business.
- Developing new markets and services.
- Restructuring key contracts to improve service levels, productivity, sales and profit.
- Increasing the rate of client retention by delivering cost effective, quality services and maintaining productive client relationships. Where a contract was lost, the new contracts gained more than balanced the loss and provided net growth.
- Implementing OH & S and QA systems to the benefit of the business. In one business, my division with 42 decentralised contract sites achieved Zero Lost Time Injuries within 3 years of implementation.
- Successful negotiation of Enterprise Bargaining and Certified Agreements; managing HR/IR; changing long entrenched work practices.
- Improving cash flow through strict control of Debtors accounts and invoicing processes.
